Cheryl Whyte is a senior solicitor at McGee McGee Agar Law, bringing over 15 years of specialist experience in family and children law to the firm’s growing family department. Born, raised, educated and currently located in Teesside, Cheryl has dedicated her career to supporting families across the North East through some of the most complex and emotionally challenging legal proceedings.

Since joining McGee McGee Agar Law in 2025, Cheryl has quickly become a key member of the team, known for her meticulous preparation, calm professionalism, and deep understanding of public children law. Her experience strengthens the firm’s reputation as a trusted provider of expert legal services in both public and private family law.

Cheryl qualified as a solicitor in 2009 and has been a continuous member of the Law Society’s Children Law Accreditation Scheme (Children’s Panel) since 2014 - a recognition reserved for solicitors with proven expertise in representing children in court proceedings.

She specialises in public law care proceedings, child protection matters, and private law disputes, and is regularly instructed to represent:

Re H – Defended a parent in proceedings where the Local Authority sought to prove responsibility for a child’s death. Cheryl’s handling of complex pathological and toxicological evidence was central to the case outcome.
Re B – Acted for a child in a case involving unexplained bruising. Cheryl’s tenacity and use of medical experts resulted in the withdrawal of proceedings before trial.
